So why ProjectMandate?

PRINCE2 suggests the following content -

  • The Authority responsible for the Project
  • The background to the Project

  • The Project scope
  • Constraints within which the Project has to operate
  • The interfaces the Project needs to include
  • The quality expectations of the outputs
  • An outline business case, i.e. the reasons and benefits for doing the Project
  • References to any associated documents or products
  • An indication of who are to be the Project Executive and Project Manager
  • The customer(s), user(s) and any other known interested parties.

The Project Mandate may come from anywhere in the organisation but it must come from a level of management that can authorise the cost and resource usage for the Project.
